Managing land also means taking care of and preserving all those parts that are not directly related to agricultural production. In 2022, we initiated a study aimed at restoring and enhancing a portion of our land, with a particular focus on dry stone walls and the enjoyment of the environment. This led to the creation of the "Adagio Rural Gardens."

In our gardens, there are several dry stone walls, some of which were almost completely deteriorated. Considering the benefits of their restoration, we began the work. Subsequently, we seized the opportunity to obtain partial funding for the project thanks to the "PNRR M1C3. Investment 2.2: Protection and enhancement of rural architecture and landscape" measure.

Benefits of Restoration

The benefits of this intervention are numerous:

- Soil Protection: The restored walls offer better protection against erosion, which is essential for the health of the vines.

- Increased Biodiversity: The renewed dry stone walls attract and support various plant and animal species, enriching the biodiversity of the land.

- Enhancement of the Territory: A well-maintained vineyard with restored dry stone walls is more attractive to visitors and can help promote sustainable tourism in our region.

We have already completed the first restoration works and are beginning to see some of these benefits. The restoration work was carried out with care and respect for traditional techniques. We used locally certified stones, carefully selected to ensure a perfect integration with the existing landscape. Our goal was not only to restore the aesthetics but also to commit to sustainability and preserving functionality.

Looking Ahead

The restoration of the dry stone walls is just the beginning of our commitment to sustainability and the conservation of the territory and the development of the Rural Gardens. We have plans for further interventions to improve the efficiency of our agricultural practices and to continue preserving and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage of our area.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project, particularly Gezim Kasa, a local craftsman who worked with dedication and passion.

Conclusion

The future of our territory depends on the actions we take today. We will continue to work together to ensure that future generations can enjoy a healthy environment rich in history and biodiversity.

We invite everyone to visit our vineyard to see the work up close and appreciate the beauty and importance of dry stone walls.
